With Prodrive UK unable to supply the required repair components in time for the upcoming AusGT Round, and with a showdown coming the championship, the car owner issued a challenge to PACE: Provide a solution to fix the car in time for the race.
The damaged extrusion was delivered was PACE and our engineering team worked overtime to reverse engineer the best impression from the seriously damaged part. Not only did it have to to fit in the car – it had to work will all the existing factory mounts – and there were no pre-existing drawings.
Once reverse engineered our sheet-metal designer worked hard pushing the limits of the material and process to convert this shape into something that could be manufactured in just a few days turn around. With the sheet-metal parts back, just a few hours in the workshop resulted in a replica part that fit the car perfectly.
